My 3 Secrets to a GORGEOUS Insta Feed

Truth be told, even though graphic design is one of my services, it’s not really responsible for the compliments I get on my instagram feed. (I’m @serynamyers if you’d like to check it out.) I have such love and appreciation for a well put together feed, so I thought I’d share the 3 things I’ve done to make my Insta profile so beautiful. It’s not as complicated as it seems, so if design isn’t your forte, give yourself a couple of mins to see how easy it could be.

Secret 1: I branded it.

Again, branding is one of my services, so this was easy for me to do, but don’t let the experts make you think it’s a complicated or expensive thing. Choose a handful of colours and use them consistently. Same goes for fonts. Yes, you can make it more complicated than this, but you really don’t have to.

(If you need help, you can grab the branding workbook within my divine design bundle to get you started.)

The catch here is CONSISTENCY. Your brand isn’t something you use only when it’s convenient – choose something you love and stick with it. There’s such competition for attention in the online space, which makes it harder to be memorable. You can make a more lasting impression if it’s easy to recognize your content.

Secret 2: I get regular photoshoots

I work with local photographers 1-2 times per year so I have a lot of content to use on Insta, and it’s pretty fresh. (I’m constantly changing my hair, so this was super important for me.) I make sure to work with photographers who really SEE me and GET me, so nothing is stuffy, it’s always an accurate representation of what I’m all about. THIS IS SO KEY. When you share your photo on Insta, it’s often the first impression you make with a potential future client. Let them in… let them get to know you – especially if YOU are the brand. You want to give them an accurate idea of what you’re all about. This is as much a part of your brand as the colours and fonts you chose in secret #1. 😉

Bonus: If you’re in Greater Vancouver and you’re looking for a Seryna-approved photographer, let me know. I’m happy to share the peeps I love. This grid features photos from Stef Fournier, Kristy Powers, and Diane Smithers.

Secret 3: I pay for stock photos

If you find yourself thinking “Why would I pay for something I can get for free?” I have a one-word answer for you: DISTINCTION. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve scrolled through Insta, thought I saw one of my posts, but it was someone else using the same stock photo as me. Ugh. And again, we’re competing for attention, so the fewer people using your photos the better.

It can be crazy-expensive to have all your own stock photos done in shoots – especially if you post every day, but photo subscription sites make it so much more affordable. You don’t have exclusive rights to the pictures, but the number of people using them are so much less than the free photos that you rarely have an issue.

Most recently I’ve signed up for Style Stock Society (and became one of their affiliates because I’m a nerdy superfan) and here’s why I love them:

  • The photos are feminine and gorgeous – and simple enough to be ultra Instagram friendly
  • They have a colour-search function (oh my design nerd heart was so happy over this). They’re not just beautiful colour pairings, they even have some of my hard-to-find brand colours too!
  • They’re SO EASY to download! This is my biggest pet peeve with other sites. You can look at an entire collection and decide to download an individual picture, or the whole collection. I can’t tell you how much time I’ve saved already.

This is my fifth subscription since starting my business, and by far the one I’m most happy with. Zero exaggeration.

It’s not hard, but it does require some thought

If social media is the place you’re investing your energy in finding clients, you want to get off on the right foot. With a bit of planning, and a bit of support, you can create beautiful visual experiences that feel so deliciously you, that your dream clients can’t help but be magnetically drawn in.

If you’re in the space where you’re ready to invest in a custom brand that is divinely guided and soul-aligned, I have space for 2 branding clients before the end of the year. Get the details here.

With love and magic,

End Faux-thenticity

It wasn’t about genuine sharing or trying to help the greater good, it became a ploy for more eyes on their content with an eventual sell on the back end.
