By now you’ve probably heard about Danielle LaPorte, and her book, The Desire Map. So what does it have to do with planning out your days for a year? I’m a big advocate for goal setting and vision boarding, but this takes it one step further (dare I say, DEEPER?). Instead of thinking about what you want to GET (new clients, new home, new experiences, etc), it focuses on how you want to FEEL, which really helps you refocus where you direct your energy. Because let’s be honest, you’ve only got so much energy to invest in your life, your business, your relationships… so why not spend it on the stuff that LIGHTS YOU UP?!

The Desire Map was a great way for me to shift things in my life and in my business. My core desired feelings (which if you’re curious are abundance, authentic, connected and empowered) are the driving force of everything I do. If it doesn’t light me up, I’m unlikely to do it. Having these as a compass has helped me live a happier, healthier, more sustainable life instead of the stressed out, tailspin I’d been on in my corporate life that lead to my eventual burn out. I’m super stoked to use this planner as a way of integrating my CDFs into my every day life. I currently have reminders set up on my phone and laptop wallpaper, I’ve worn her temporary tattoos, and of course use the book as a manual for happy living… so this is just going to take me that extra step in. I think it’s safe to say I’ve drunk the Kool-Aid. 😉

Now… if you’re more the business savvy type reading this, and less woo-y than some of my peeps, you may be thinking this isn’t for you. But let’s get practical for a second… doing things that make you feel good, feel WHOLE is just good business sense. The better you feel, the more energy you have for taking over the world, the happier you are and the happier you make your clients and staff. So making this investment in heart-centred organization of your schedule has a ripple effect to all of the peeps around you. The Desire Map isn’t just for coaches, yogis and wellness professionals. It’s for anyone who wants to create an abundant life, that has impact and feels totally aligned with who they are.
